Scrubs - “Winter” by Joshua Radin Scrubs had an uncanny ability for selecting the perfect song for the perfect moment, and even though throughout its run there are numerous magical music moments, the episode My Screw Up in season three is the one that hits the hardest. It was a wonderful show and a wonderful song that came together to create an unforgettable intro sequence. The show itself was a coming-of-age comedy series set in the late 1960s, focusing on the trials and tribulations of young Kevin Arnold and his family, as he enters junior high school and becomes a teenager. The song itself is also an emotional tour de force, with Cocker’s raspy delivery adding to the emotional weight of the lyrics. Every single person growing up during that period could relate to the home video feel, returning you back to your childhood the second Cocker’s voice kicked in. The reason the song and visuals hit so hard was purely based on nostalgia. Opening with a recreation of home videos from the late ’60s, featuring the Arnold family doing typical family things. Much of Six Feet Under centered on finding the humor in death, and this was a series that didn’t even spare some of its main characters.
